Donuts and Bacon 08: Taste We Can Believe In

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Just saw this Donuts and Bacon 08: Taste We Can Believe In Obama-inspired t-shirt via Pip’s Bad Ideas (which featured my cookies as #81).

Perhaps there could be a 2009 rendition featuring broccoli and strips of fruit leather, maybe?… to better reflect the political change we hope to see with the Farm Bill.

Thanksgiving in School

I haven’t felt as conflicted about a political issue in quite a while.  What’s your take?

Either way…

Happy Thanksgiving!

It All Comes Back to Food

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Whenever I ponder something political, scientific or downright intellectual… it all comes back to food.

A first grader I know is my kindred spirit in this. Yesterday evening I was leaving his house and he said, “I know that Obama is going to win.”

“Oh yeah?” I said. “How come?”

“‘Cause yesterday I was at a store and there were two boxes of lollipops: one with donkeys and one with elephants. And all of the donkey lollipops were gone. That’s how I know.”

(Some online sleuthing concluded that he must have been referring to Jacques Torres Chocolate‘s political lollipops: McCain Lime, Orange Obama, “Mac is Back!” Macadamia and “Barack the Vote” Ground Caramel.)

Between lollipops and bake sales, Election 2008 was really all about the food. And smart kids that realized it.
